Cataract Surgery to clear cloudy eyes
A cataract is a clouding of the lens that obscures the vision, developing at a mean age of approximately 60 years old. Removal of a cataract requires a simple, short surgery that clears the obscurity. The treatment lasts close to half an hour; however, facilities require the patient to stay a couple hours before and after the procedure for pre- and post-operative care. After an eye-drop anesthetic is applied to the eyes to reduce discomfort, the doctor will make a tiny incision in the cornea and fragment the misted lens into small pieces, which are removed with fluid. Then an artificial lens is inserted in the place of the removed lens. The Toronto cataract surgery procedure may have temporary side effects, such as irritated eyes.
