How to keep Water Heaters from Corroding
Demand Water Heaters are made up of steel tanks, which are protected by an inner surface of vitreous glass from getting rust. But it is not possible to keep each and every inch of the water heater away from the water, as there are seams or fittings that could be devoid of any vitreous glass protection. This defect of the water heaters is eliminated by installing a sacrificial anode rode, inside the water heaters. This anode rod is very effective in protecting the water heaters from any bad effects of the electrolysis. Electrolysis occurs in the presence of two different kinds of metals and the more reactive metal corrodes first, protecting the less-reactive metal and this is what an anode does for the water heaters
