Growing Old on Route 66
I’ve been around almost since the Mother Road started out. As a matter of fact we’re almost the same age. I’ve seen how it developed from the old Wild West dirt roads to a famed highway that everyone wanted to drive through. Being the first of its kind people flocked right over to see what it was all about. You wouldn’t believe how many tourists came here just for the trip and to see what was around. In its peak the streets were often lit with colorful neon signs trying to attract people to different diners, motels and what-have-you’s. Although the place has lost much of its luster today and most people travel the interstate, there’s still a lot to see if you go on Route 66 tours.
